Fasting tips
I want you to use fasting aides especially to get through that first night of fasting. If you become uncomfortably hungry near the end of the day, use mint tea or unsweet herb tea. Sparkling water calms a growling noisy stomach. Also try pinches of salt under the tongue (sublingual).
Caffeine is a great appetite suppressant. Use coffee or tea. You may add fat to either as a fasting aide.
Green tea suppresses appetite as well.
Use infused water (cucumber, strawberries, citrus fruits) added to water for a few hours to impart a bit of flavor but not squeezed or eaten.
If that does not help, I want you to use broth. Bone broth is best because it is highly nutritious. Homemade if you can. Natural food stores do carry it, and it can be ordered online (I trust the "Kettle and Fire" company.)
If you are still uncomfortable, add a teaspoon or two of butter, coconut oil, MCT oil, or heavy cream to your broth. Have more than one cup if you need to. You will eventually be able to fast without it, but for now use it to aid you until you become stronger with this. You will still gain great benefit from a fast with fatty broth.
Another final strategy is to fill your stomach with a bit of fiber. Do not overdo this. Stir 2 tablespoons chia seed or flax seed into an 8-ounce glass of water, wait 20 minutes, and drink.
This gets easier. Most likely when you wake in the morning your hunger will be gone.
