What are some benefits of eating low carb?

Many people experience the following benefits when they eat a low carbohydrate or ketogenic (very low carb) diet:

● Lowered blood glucose

● Weight loss very likely

● Lowered inflammation

● Better overall nutrition

● Normalized blood pressure

● Clearer thinking

● Better sleep

● Improved skin

● Can stabilize hypoglycemia

● Can reduce or eliminate asthma

● The anti-inflammatory nature of the diet can reduce chronic pain dramatically

When low carbohydrate is adopted as a way of eating, overall health can improve. The standard American diet — which includes as many as 500 grams of carbohydrate a day — can burn out the pancreas (creating insulin resistance), flood the body with too much insulin. When we eat the low carbohydrate way, fat loss is likely because it lowers insulin levels. And lower insulin levels reduce hunger!

I believe this the way humans are meant to eat. Our bodies are built to eat whole foods, not processed sugars and starches.

Perhaps most importantly, eating fewer carbohydrates helps stabilize blood glucose levels — which is good for all of us, but especially important for people with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.

What are some benefits of controlled fasting?

When we start with a well-nourished body, fasting is not starvation. It is a time for the body to rest and initiate repair (autophagy). Fasting also targets visceral fat. This is harmful fat that has collected on and in our organs.

Fasting can be a break for the digestive system and help to heal many gut issues.

Although it appears so, fasting is not meant for weight loss — although you will lose a minimum of a half a pound of fat a day because that's what your body needs to burn in order to function. You'll likely lose many more pounds in inflammatory water weight.

Some of the benfits people have experienced from a well-designed, controlled fast include:

● Autophagy — your body’s natural recycling system that reuses old or damaged cell parts.

● Visceral fat loss

● Rapid anti-inflammatory effects

● A fast of 24 to 72 hours can bring on phenomenally clear thinking and create a sense of euphoria. Many fast specifically for this benefit.
